INSIDE OUT (I)
A selection of drawings among the recent acquisitions of the MORNING COAT Alsace
In September, 2007, the Morning coat Alsace and The Quay, college of higher education of art of Mulhouse signed an official partnership to favour better knowledge of this collection, to offer to the students to meet the guest artists and to be sensitised in occupations in the form of practice.
First demonstration of this convention between two Alsatian institutions, exhibition INSIDE OUT (I), offers a panorama of the recent acquisitions in the field of the drawing, due to Jan Claire Stevens, professor in the Quay. Title INSIDE OUT (I), literally the inside outdoors alluded to a movement of inside towards the outside but also to an unusual look which is carried on writings.
Choice of writings put abreast, an exhibition is always a chance to reread jobs conceived separately. INSIDE OUT (I) reveals the nature of all MORNING COAT: a collection of writings which favours all combinations. Group composed of jobs of artists of the collection, INSIDE OUT (I) expresses this plasticity.
For Jan Claire Stevens, the drawing plays a central role in its education. Not only as classical tool but also as starting point in any artistic plan. The artists and groups of introduced artists envisage the drawing besides as a medium laboratory. Jan Claire Stevens linked to this event the students of 1st year by giving them opportunity to accomplish an exhibition. Of the bet in the space of drawings in the reception of the public, the students approach so all stages of the organisation of exhibition.
This partnership with the MORNING COAT will continue in spring on 2008 with exhibition INSIDE OUT (II).
