Since 2000, a dozen of places of exhibition of the region of Basel (from Freiburg-im-Brisgau to Saint-Louis, from Riehen to Mulhouse) introduces a selection of artists' writings working in this cross-border territory. Regionale 8 has as mission to introduce better the artists of a region as rich in prestigious places (Kunsthalle, Schaulager, Beyeler foundation) as in various creators. Jeans-Luke Gerhardt, responsible for the prefiguration of the contemporary arts centre of the Foundry and David Cascaro, manager of the Quay, accomplished a selection of artists' about twenty. They orientated their choice to some vision of reality. The artists are inhabitants of the real in the fact that they are interested more in effects produced by an environment than in his picture as such. And however, landscapes, palaces, shacks, houses and people are really there, visible in the form of collages, of drawings, models, or painting. Representational artists or not, in two or three dimensions, these jobs constitute so many reports in the world.
